New Changes to Management and Organizational Studies

While the Organizational and Human Resources modules are being phased out beginning in September 2011, students whose interests lie in business leadership,  government, law, and NGO career paths may be interested in our new  Organizational Studies, Policy, and Ethics modules. These modules provide a solid grounding in the business disciplines, with an added emphasis on business ethics and policy formulation. They draw on Huron’s considerable strength in the disciplines of Philosophy and Political Science.

The specifically-designated Global Studies module within MOS is also being phased out beginning in September 2011. However, students who are interested in Global Issues or in Globalization will want to consider combining a Major in Management and Organizational Studies with a Major in Global Studies.

For those students interested in a future in Accounting, an enhanced Major in Accounting will be offered at Huron beginning in September 2011. Programs in Finance and Administration have also been updated and will continue to serve Huron students interested this area, with additional enhancements planned. Combining a MOS Major with a Major in another Arts or Social Science discipline will equip students for effective strategizing and informed decision-making as they enter the business world. For example, combining a MOS Major with a Major in English, would help prepare a student for a career as an effective communicator in business.

New Combined Programs with the Ivey School of Business

Huron is pleased to offer two combined programs with the Richard Ivey School of Business; one with Psychology, the other Global Studies. Students completing these 5-year programs will graduate with an Honors Business Administration (HBA) degree and an Honors Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology with an Honors Specialization in Psychology, or an Honors Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Global Studies with an Honors Specialization in Global Development Studies, Global Culture Studies or Globalization Studies. To complete all of the requirements, students in this program will spend their first two years at Huron in their program before attending Ivey for their third year. Fourth and fifth years will be spent attending courses at both campuses. Students hoping to complete a combined program apply during the first year at the Ivey Business School.
