Gordon Hamilton Receives R. B. Y. Scott Prize

The Origins of the West Semitic Alphabet in Egyptian Scripts by Old Testament Language and Literature Professor, Dr. Gordon Hamilton was recognised as an outstanding book "in the areas of Hebrew Bible and/or the Ancient Near East, written by a member of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies." SSHRC Grant Awarded for Centre for Public Theology

The Faculty of Theology is pleased to announce the award of a SSHRC Aids to Small Universities grant of $90,000 over three years from 2008-11 to develop a new Centre for Public Theology at Huron. Details here.

Huron Student Receives Prestigious International Fellowship

B.Th. student Kaitlin Nelson has been awarded a 2008 Fund for Theological Education (FTE) Undergraduate Fellowship. FTE Undergraduate Fellowships recognize students who have gifts for leadership and are exploring the possibility of ministry as a vocation. Details here.

New Dean of Theology Chosen

Huron is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Dr. William Danaher as the next Dean of Theology, effective July 1, 2008. Details here.

Faculty on TVO

Dr. Daniel Smith appeared March 26, 2007 on TVO's "The Agenda with Steve Paiken" to answer the question, "Was Jesus a Communist?" Dr. Gary Badcock appeared at the end of the week to answer another viewer question about religion.

Dr. Gordon Hamilton receives the ASOR Frank Moore Cross Award

This American Schools of Oriental Research award is presented annually to the author of the best book published on Ancient Near Eastern Epigraphy within the past year.

The 2006 award was presented by Joe D. Seger, ASOR Past President to Gordon J. Hamilton at the Honors and Awards program of the ASOR at its Annual Meeting in Washington D.C., Friday, November 17, 2006.
