On Saturday, November 19, 2011, Huron hosted its fall open house for students considering university

In total, 154 prospective Huron students along with their families and friends met with Faculty, Staff and students and find out what Huron has to offer. The day's agenda included a Faculty and Department Roam, Admissions, Scholarship and International Opportunities information sessions, as well as tours of residence and campus, and was attended by over 350 participants.

Preceding the Fall Preview, a special luncheon was held in The Sage Room for Huron alumni and prospective students accompanying them.  Also in attendance were Principal McClatchie, Director of the Alumni Association Jennifer Grant, Ken Andrews, Director of Alumni and Community Development, and Bonnie Crocker, Registrar.



The Douglas and Margaret Derry Dr. Ian Hacking.pngInterdisciplinary Lecture

The Derry Lectures are an annual event at Huron University College and the 2011 Lecture was held on Monday, October 24, 2011 in the Kingsmill Room.  This year's guest speaker, Dr. Ian Hacking, spoke on "The New Me:  What Biotechnology may do to Personal Identity".

On behalf of Dr. Stephen McClatchie, Huron's new Principal, thank you to everyone who attended the annual Principal's Reception held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 which was attended by close to one hundred Huron alumni and friends.

More than 85 alumni and friends attended the 2011 Huron Homecoming held from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2.  It was a great opportunity to gather together to meet old and new friends and celebrate Huron's past, present and future.  To read more about the weekend's festivities and to view photos

Huron Golf Classic

Celebrating its 31st anniversary, the Huron Golf Classic raised more than $51,000 for a fourth consecutive year to provide scholarship and bursary financial assistance to Huron students.  To view photos of the day's event:

Many thanks to everyone who attended the Toronto Annual Spring Reception at The National Club hosted by Principal Trish Fulton and the Huron University College Alumni Association.  More than 115 alumni and friends attended together with members of Huron faculty, staff and the Student Council. 

Representing 50 graduating years from 1959 to 2009, alumni and friends heard news from the College by Principal Trish Fulton, information on Huron’s new mentoring/networking program by Alumni Association President Sandra Datars Bere, and fondly remembered Miss Catharine Ridley and Michael Pidzamecky ’85 with tributes by The Rt. Rev. Terry Finlay ‘59 ‘62, Peter Kedwell ’69, and Laura Ross ’85.

Most of all, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.  A good time was had by all!

Canadian Consulate, New York

More than 20 Huron alumni and friends in the New York area attended Huron's reception at the Canadian Consulate on October 21st.  In addition to alumni from the New York area, among those attending were Principal Trish Fulton, Alumni Association President Sandra Datars Bere, Huron University College Foundation USA President Steve Hardy, and Director of Alumni and Development Ken Andrews.
