Many students seek to spend a year abroad during their time at University. Students may choose from the Huron Exchange Universities Program or apply independently to another university of their choice. Either way, it is important that the student's program be structured in such a way as to enable the required courses for the module to be taken and the program completed in the four years. Some suggestions are set out below:
A Major in Economics: This requires six senior economics courses (12 half courses) to be taken in the module after first year. If you are an Economics Major and wish to take a year at a University overseas we suggest you complete the economics requirements for the module at Huron in years two and four, and go abroad in year three. The following economics courses are suggested for years two and four.
* Year 2: Econ 2220a/b, Econ 2221a/b, Econ 2260a/b, Econ 2261a/b, Econ 2222a/b, Econ 2223a/b.
* Year 3: Year abroad.
* Year 4: Econ 2210a/b, Econ 3320a/b, Econ 3381a/b, Plus three other half courses in Economics at the 2200 or 3000 level.
Honours Specialization in Economics: This requires nine senior economics courses (18 half courses) be taken after completing first year. Studying for a year abroad and completing the program in four years may be possible and interested students should see the Chair of the Department of Economics & Business.
Specialization inManagement and organizational Studies (BMOS): After completion of first year a student in BMOS is required to take eleven courses to complete the module, plus four other courses. Studying for a year abroad and completing the program in four years may be possible and students interested in exploring such possibility for their third or fourth year should consult Ms. Debbie Chadwick, Academic Counsellor
Department of Business and Economics
