FASS Scholarships

The Faculty of Arts and Social Science provides a number of automatic scholarships as well as scholarships that require an application to reward academic excellence.


In order to be eligible to receive a FASS Scholarship, you must be a full-time Huron student, enrolled in 5.0 courses during the regular academic year (September to April), 3.0 of which must be Huron courses.  

The FASS Scholarship Competition is typically held in the Spring of each year.


In-course Scholarships are available to students entering second-year or above who have an average of 80.0% or better (unless otherwise specified), and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities in athletics, arts, community, or life.  Students must submit an application to be considered for In-course Scholarships.  The application deadline is March 30, 2012.

 In-course Scholarships 

Senior Scholarships are available to students in second year or above in a variety of programs who have achieved an average of 80.0% or better.  You do not apply for a Senior Scholarship, as they are adjudicated on the basis of performance and compliance within specific award criteria.  If you receive a Senior Scholarship, you will be notified by the Dean’s Office in early summer.


Departmental Awards are available to all FASS students.  Departments and Programs choose award candidates based on a variety of factors.  All departmental award winners are honored at Scholarships and Awards Day each year.

Scholarships and Awards Day is a very special event held in mid-October of each year to honour recipients for their academic achievements.  All recipients of a FASS Scholarship or Award and their families are invited to celebrate at Scholarships and Awards Day along with faculty, staff, and donors.  The most recent Scholarships and Awards Day was held on Saturday, October 22, 2011.
