  • Brough Hall Guest House

  • Nestled in a secluded area on the campus of Huron University College, Brough House offers a unique experience and has a variety of features that set it apart from other hotels. Tranquil and private, and with generous facilities for a variety of events, Brough Hall is an ideal location for a retreat, board meeting, reception or gathering.

This Tudor-style mansion was originally built and owned by the Cronyn family in 1936. The property was named “Burnlea” in recognition of the distinctive physical characteristics of the property, reminiscent of the Cronyn’s ancestral home in Scotland, and decorated with unique fixtures purchased on a trip to Italy. In 1954, Burnlea was sold to 12 Anglican laypeople who presented it to the College as a residence for theological students. The residence was re-named “Brough” in memory of Archdeacon C.C. Brough, a close friend of the late Bishop Cronyn. Later in 1960 it became a women’s residence, and is now used as a Guest House.

  • Cronyn House

Originally known as the Watson-Yonge House, Cronyn House, named in honour of the Cronyn family, was purchased in 1963 by an unnamed donor – known as “Mr. Anonymous” in Huron folklore – to be an on-campus residence for the Principal. Mr. Anonymous was none other than G. F. (Fred) Kingsmill, a long-time supporter of Huron whose generous donations were often made anonymously and in honour of others. Principal Morden and his family lived in Cronyn House until 1983, when it became “La Maison Française,” a residence for female students who wished to speak French.

Cronyn House is used during the academic year as upper year housing. It offers 8 bedrooms and is only available in the summer months (May-August). The home offer:
Fully furnished one bedroom rooms with a double bed, and includes bed linen and one bath towel
    Fully equipped kitchen facilities
    Living room space
    Free Wifi
    Complimentary Parking
Rooms available for $35 per night before taxes

    Benson House

Benson House, immediately north of the administrative wing, was purchased in 1958 to be a residence for a sub-warden and 13 of Huron’s rapidly increasing number of female students. Women were first permitted to enrol in classes just a year earlier. In 1963, Benson House was renamed Seager Hall, in honour of Bishop Seager, and served as a home for Theology students for over twenty years until it was converted back to a women’s residence and its original name in 1984.
